Why?
The poor connection of the region is pushing Sardinia towards an electrification of its energy system to increase its resilience. The Municipality of Benetutti has been granted with the concession for the distribution of electricity on medium and low voltage distribution networks for delivery to final consumers. This is how this town has become the 1st Sardinian Smart Community. In this context, TwinERGY implements a demo-site smart grid, the first one in Italy, entirely powered by renewable energy.
What?
A flexible and sustainable energy grid is developed to solve power fluctuations problems and promote residents participation in the process.
How?
On a community level, a community Digital Twin is established in order to monitor energy transactions through a system based on smart contracts and blockchain technology. The engagement strategy focuses on providing dynamic pricing mechanisms to lower participants’ energy use and improving the comfort of consumers.
